Not all of the copperwork we do is restoring old architecture, as seen by the newly built Walsh Library Copper Dome completed at Seton Hall University, South Orange, N.J.
Referred to as "The Jewel of the Campus", the new Walsh Copper Dome is 200 ft. in circumference and 35 feet from the top to bottom. The wood deck was first covered in ice and water shield to be prepared before copper was cladded. The total area was approximately 4,000 sq ft. without the cupola. Copper panels were field measured and custom fabricated to fit in the shop before being taken to the job and field installed. These sheets were interlocked throughout the curved Dome area. The copper used was 20 oz. and 24 GA stainless steel was used for the large gutter linings.
