Iviswold was constructed in 1869 as a three-story, almost square-in-plane house. Extensive renovations in 1887 added towers, bays and a new wing that give Iviswold its picturesque eclectic appearance. An important example of a castellated country house, Iviswold is the only known New Jersey example of the work of architect William H. Miller. Restoration by Felician College, beginning in 2004, was made possible in part by the Garden State Historic Preservation Trust Fund administered by the New Jersey Historic Trust / State of New Jersey and by the Bergen County Historic Preservation Trust Fund, a part of the Bergen County Open Space, Recreation, Farmland and Historic Preservation Trust Fund. |
