ABOVE LEFT: Old Bergen Church of Jersey City, circa 1890. This church is home to what most historians consider the oldest continuing religious congregation in New Jersey. The existing church stands on the site of the original 1680 church and a later 1773 church building. The existing brownstone sanctuary was constructed in 1841 in the Greek Revival style, incorporating materials from both of the earlier churches.
