Dec. 6, 2006 - Preservation New Jersey's "Building Industry Network Autumn Workshop" to be held at Schtiller & Plevy's onsite copper workshop at Hoboken Terminal This hands-on seminar will take place in the copper fabrication workshop of Schtiller & Plevy, on-site at the 1907 Hoboken Ferry Terminal, currently under restoration by New Jersey Transit. Program and demonstrations will include review of the SMACNAs Architectural Sheet Metal 6th Edition Manual, as well as discussion of custom fabrication and restoration of ornamental copper cornices and cladding, roof drainage, flashings, louvers, wall penetrations and underlayments. S&Ps Larry Plevy and Harold Munder will make a presentation on the Restoration of Historic Metal and give a live demonstration of Curved Metal Forming. When Lafayette later toured the United States in 1824 and visited Bergen, he was presented with a cane made from the tree, which had blown down three years before. The inscription read, "Shaded the hero and his friend Washington in 1779; presented by the Corporation of Bergen in 1824." The Apple Tree House is both a Jersey City and NJ State Historic Site, and has been reecommended for National Landmark status on the National Register of Historic Places. It was listed as one of the "NJ's Top Ten Endangered Sites for 2006" by Preservation New Jersey.. Schtiller & Plevy will restore the structure to it's 1860 state. Schtiller & Plevy announces two new Executive Presidents Jami Raderman, Executive Vice President, has over thirty years of experience in historical restoration, and has worked for a number of prestigous restoration firms, from architectural conservators to well known restoration contractors, including Paragon Restoration Corp. and Sentry Contracting Inc. He brings to Schtiller & Plevy a wealth of experience in working with the New York City historic restoration community. He holds a BBA from Baruch College, and has pursued contuing education in, among others, the New York City Site Safety Program and the New York City Restore Program. Mr. Raderman's professional affiliations include the New York Association of Realty Managers Inc, Associated Builders & Owners of Greater New York, National Roofing Contractors Association, Institute of Real Estate Management, The New York Cooperator and The New Jersey Cooperator. Harold Munder, Executive Vice President, started his career in 1968 in the sheet metal industry working for A. Munder and Son, Inc., started by his great grandfather in 1895. A. Munder & Sons merged with The New York Roofing Company, and Mr. Munder continued there as Vice President. Harold's particular expertise is the area of architectural sheet metal and restoration work, with over thrity years of experience in managing both large and small projects. He holds a Business Administration Degree from the University of South Carolina. His professional affiliations include the Subcontractors Trade Assocaition, NY (Board Member, 10 years), SMACNA, NYC & National, (serving on various committees and task forces) and a member of BETA. April 2006 - Larry Plevy of Schtiller & Plevy is recipeint of two historic preservation awards at the 16th Annual New Jersey Historic Preservation Awards ceremony. The awards were for the restoration of St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Perth Amboy and for the restoration of Phoenix House in Mendham, NJ. |

The Somerset County Cultural & Heritage Commission awarded Schtiller & Plevy their "Historic Preservation Award" for S&P's restoration of the Historic Raritan Firehouse, Raritan, NJ. The project included metal and slate roofing, flashing, new chimney, carpentry and paint. |

The Spring 2003 National AIA Historic Resources Committee (HRC) meeting has been scheduled to coincide with the metals conference; it will include additional talks, tours, a luncheon and two reception, on April 3, 5, 6,and 7. The conference is sponsored by Technology & Conservation, the MIT Department of Architecture, and the Boston Society of Architects' Historic Resources Committee, with the cooperation of the National AIA HRC and the National Park Service. 2003 SMACNA Director Nominating Committee Appointments Announced SMACNA President Jack Desmond recently made five appointments to the SMACNA Director Nominating Committee. These appointees join five other members who were elected during SMACNAs business meeting held at this years annual convention in Las Vegas. More than 500 preservationists, contractors, building managers and manufacturers attended the conference and exposition, and in the process shared problems and solutions to complex roofing issues involving historic buildings.
